Meet CJ Michalec

Certified Social Worker

CJ (they/them) is a Certified Social Worker with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah. Originally from Michigan, they completed their bachelors degree from Grand Valley State University and have served many different populations in various therapeutic settings prior to becoming a therapist at Arches.

With extensive training in Feminist Multicultural Therapy, CJ is especially attuned to the complexities of identity and power for each individual within their environment. Their trauma-informed approach draws from a variety of therapies like ACT, CBT, DBT, and EFT to fit the needs of each client. While they have significant experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, CJ enjoys working with a wide range of clients and finds deep meaning in supporting anyone seeking a more connected, authentic, and grounded existence.

As a queer and trans/non-binary clinician, CJ is passionate about advocating for marginalized communities and their therapeutic style is informed by their own personal and professional life experiences. At their core, they believe community and connection are essential to healing and growth, and they strive to create a warm, affirming, and grounded environment for their clients to feel supported.

CJ feels most grounded in nature and loves spending time outdoors, whether they’re lounging or playing hard! Some of their other interests include listening to & collecting vinyl, photography, cooking, and cuddling up on the couch with a good book and their two cats.

Arches Healing and Growth aims to provide a multicultural space that is inclusive and accessible to people of all cultural backgrounds and welcoming of their gender identities, religion, race, sexual orientations, disabilities and immigration status to facilitate and create a safe haven for healing and growth.
